Annual Community Chest Twilight Run calls for entries

by CCID 15 Nov 2017

Tuesday 5 December is the date set for one of the Cape Town CBD’s most popular events – the annual Community Chest Twilight Run and Festival 2017

This is a yearly “sporting” event at which no winner is declared nor are any medals awarded (there isn’t even an official timekeeper!) … in fact, it’s really just all about the “sports” that participants have on the night, and yet, year-after-year, it attracts around 8 000 eager participants and spectators.

Part of the fun, of course, is the dressing up of individual participants as well as entire teams, all to raise money for a very good cause. With the event this year celebrating its 35th year, company directors will once again line up alongside office workers, cleaning staff, accountants, lawyers and factory workers. It’s all in the hope of getting their special outfit noticed and walking away with the prize (yes, there is one after all) for the best outfit of the evening – this year with a “best dressed superheroes” theme.

With the gathering before and the celebrations afterwards happening as always on the Grand Parade on Darling Street, in front of City Hall, the walk itself will start and finish at 19h00 in Darling Street. The festival part of the evening will take place from 20h00 until 22h30 and will feature a number of Cape Town’s top acts and personalities.

Entries cost R70 per person and participants can register in one of numerous ways, all to be found on the Top Event website.
