CCID to release investment report in April

by CCID 15 Mar 2017

The fifth annual investment report published by the Cape Town Central City Improvement District (CCID) is due for launch to the public by mid-April.

Since 2012, The State of Cape Town Central City Report has looked back on the investment climate in the CBD over the past year, reflecting trends and changes in the marketplace. The main features of the report include commercial and residential property values, occupation rates for retail and commercial properties, and the changing face of retail across the full spectrum as the Central City moves increasingly towards becoming a live, work, play and stay destination.

Explains Carola Koblitz, author of the report and manager of CCID’s Communications department: “In compiling each year’s publication, we always look carefully at how the previous report was received and what new questions have arisen from the marketplace in terms of the types of information investors and stakeholders want – and need – in order to make well-informed business decisions.

“It is equally important for us to provide existing stakeholders with intel on the CBD climate to reassure them to continue to be in the CBD as it is to provide information to potential new investors, whether they plan to open a business in the area or are considering moving to the CBD in pursuit of a downtown lifestyle.”

With the evolving face of the Central City, the next report (2016 – A year in review) will focus on each of the four precincts that fall within the CCID footprint, and how these have changed over the years since the first report was published.

Explains Koblitz: “We now have four precincts that have developed very much with their own characteristics, and we believe it is important for businesses, residents and, of course, visitors to our area to understand what each of these precincts holds in terms of unique selling points and property offerings across the board.”
