The City of Cape Town wants to remind residents that the customer call centre is only available for queries related to essential services including water, sanitation, refuse removal, payment arrangements and reconnections during the lockdown period.

Given the need for physical distancing, and other COVID-19 related health and safety requirements, the City can only allow a limited number of its call centre staff on site. As such, the City’s call centre has limited capacity, and will only deal with essential services related queries until further notice.

Residents are requested to please log their service requests via SMS, email, or online as far as possible.

The call centre is still operating 24/7.

The contact details for the abovementioned essential services are as follows:

  • Email – water@capetown.gov.za
  • SMS to 31373 (max. of 160 characters)
  • Phone 0860 103 089 option 2
  • Online – go to www.capetown.gov.za, click on ‘City Connect’ and choose the applicable option, for example to report a fault

Residents with general enquiries relating to, for example: COVID-19 business-related support, traffic, motor vehicle licensing and testing and so forth are advised to please visit the City’s website at www.capetown.gov.za for more information.
