The Cape Town Central City Improvement District (CCID) welcomes all to the CBD in celebration of the holidays this Sunday, 4 December. It's the City of Cape Town's annual festive lights switch-on, when thousands congregate on Adderley Street and the Grand Parade.
The event kicks off with a free concert at 16h00 and will feature a lineup of top African artists. Attendees can enjoy the sounds of chart-topping hip-hop artist AKA, as well as acclaimed DJ Black Coffee. Joining them will be HiiiJackD, winner of the Festive Lights Challenge that ran on indi.com.

The City advises motorists to plan their trips accordingly. In addition, the following transport plan is in place to ensure that revellers are able to make their way home after the event ends at 22h00.
Late-night transport
Metrorail will provide additional trains:
Train 1 will depart Cape Town Station at 23h30 on the Mitchells Plain line.
Train 2 will depart at 23h45 on the Cape Flats line.
Transport for Cape Town will divert MyCiTi bus routes 102 and 103 from 15h00 on Saturday 3 December until the end of services on Sunday 4 December 2016, and routes 107 and 110 from 15h00 until the end of services on Sunday 4 December.
The Darling stop serving routes 102 (Salt River Rail, Walmer Estate, Civic Centre) and 103 (Oranjezicht, Gardens, Civic Centre) will close from 15h00 on Saturday 3 December until the end of services on Sunday 4 December. The Groote Kerk stop serving route 107 (Civic Centre, Camps Bay) will close from 15h00 until the end of service on Sunday 4 December.
Parking
As from 16h00 on 3 December till 23h30 on 4 December, no parking will be allowed on Darling, Adderley, Lower Plein and Castle streets, as well as the streets leading off Darling Street.
No parking will be allowed along Darling Street, in front of the City Hall, until 20h00 on Monday 5 December.
