So you missed Valentine’s Day? Not to worry, here are some things you could do in the Central City to make it up to your loved one.

Go out ... to a museum
There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the CBD, but why not fill up on culture instead? While Iziko has closed the Planetarium and the Old Town House for refurbishment, Koopmans-de Wet House, the SA Museum, the SA National Gallery and the Bo-Kaap Museum are all waiting for you and your partner to explore them.

Picnic ... in the middle of the CBD
You’ll find plenty of quiet spots to sit in The Company’s Garden. Food Lovers Market on St Georges Mall is a convenient place to stock up your basket. Or try Bacon on Bree and Culture Club Cheese. How’s that for a pairing?

Take a trip ... to a stand-up comedy venue
Comedian Mum-z, the founder of the weekly Comedy on Long event, says: “Long Street is so close to the biggest comedy club in South Africa, parliament, so I thought it would be a fitting place to promote comedy.” Check it out at the Beerhouse on Wednesday. Just don’t sit in the front row, where you’ll be easy pickings whether you’re a single or a couple.

Or try OnPointe Dance Studio, established by the founders and directors of iKapa Dance Theatre in 2011 to provide world-class dance classes to all Capetonians ... and their partners.
